Red wine...?

I heard red wine is good for your health if used moderately. I never had wine before, can someone recommend a a good, yet no too expensive brand or red wine? Also, how much is moderate?|||Red wine in general is good for you, but recent research has shown that some grape varieties are better than others. According to research done by Roger Corder, professor of experimental therapeutics in London and author of "The Red Wine Diet: Drink Wine Every Day and Live a Long and Healthy Life," Madiran (not to be confused with Madeira, a fortified wine) made of Tannat grapes from the southwest of

France is the most beneficial. Other useful grape varieties are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barolo.

All of these grape varieties make powerful, tannic red wines, which is why they're the healthiest. Being new to wine, you may not like them, but you can get similar benefits from cranberries, apples and dark chocolate.

Madiran is the most difficult to find, Cab the easiest. Altos Las Hormigas makes a good Malbec under $20. One to two glasses a day is considered moderate.|||red wine contains resveratrol. it's good for your heart health. a glass a day, i beieve.|||I would think a glass per day would be considered moderate.

This page gives a brief review of different types of red wines. After each little informative blurb, there are a few wines suggested for each type. Hope that helps!|||G R E A T_____ Q U E S T I O N !!! I麓m a scientist and I did a serious research about the issue, during the past 6 years. I travel a lot telling to the people : Don麓t believe wrong information's ! Don麓t believe commercial-link informations ! Wine is not healthy due to the fact it contains 3 times more alcohol than beer and no vitamins. Wine makers need increase their sales desperately. BE CAREFULLY !!!! I recommend drink beer or white liquors, such as vodka, in moderation.

I hope my answer would help you.|||Red wine is indeed good for health. However, it is the chemical in the grape skin that is healthy for people. If you are drinking wine for health reason, you don't have to. You can buy some grape skin extract or just drink some concord red grape juice and will get similar effect.

However, if you are looking for red wine to start both for health reason and for learning the art of wine, you should try Pinot Noir or Zinfandel. Wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are often too dry and too bitter for beginners, since these are made from grape with thick skin and hence has more tannin. Pinot Noir tend to have ligher skin and fruitier. Zinfandel is a grape that is sweeter, so even though the skin may be thick, the juice is a bit sweet (hence they can make sweet White Zinfandel from the same grape).

For Pinor Noir, I would try some Californian or Oregon wine. My favorites include Hartfort Court ($20-50), Siduri ($20-50), Willamette ($20), WillaKenzi ($25). For Zinfandel, you can try with Rosenblum ($10 Cuvee to $30-40 for single vineyard wines) and Ridge ($25-40, my favorite is Lytton Spring and York Creek). 1 glass (ie take a wine glass and fill about 1/3-1/2 way up) will do.

Enjoy|||Your budget will determine the type of wine you will buy.

Wine prices range from two buck chuck to the expensive limited edition reserves that are up to $50 per bottle.

Red wine made entirely from grapes (there are some out there in boxes or jugs that use fortified alcohol) consumed at about one or two, 6 ounce glasses per day is what the medics are saying is the healthy amount.

Start slow if you are not used to it to make sure you are ok with it.

There are several types of red wine from the light Petit Syrah to the heartier Barberos so try a variety to see what you like then branch out from there to see what brands (labels) you prefer.

Enjoy|||A glass a day is moderate, maybe two, but no more.

Cabernet sauvignons are good; so are pinot noirs. Try the Chilean ones, they're inexpensive. If you want a brand name, Gallo is good.
