How do I sub red wine for something non alcoholic in a soup?

I really want to try a soup and it has 1/2 cup red wine in it. What else can I use besides wine that isn't alcoholic? Thanks.|||The idea that all the alcohol will cook out is a misconception; a small trace will remain in the finished product. What you can use in its place depends on the type of soup (savory or sweet). I'd recommend either just omitting it entirely or substituting a half cup of chicken or beef broth (or increasing whatever liquid the soup is based on by the same amount). If you're not accustomed to the flavor of wine, you will probably like it better without it, anyway.|||Try cherry juice.|||Go ahead and use the red wine the alcohol boils out quickly and the taste remains. or just skip the wine|||Don't worry too much about the red wine as cooking will "burn off " the alcohol.Just leave the flavour.

A little grape juice or red wine vinegar. Be careful if you use the vinegar(sparingly!!!!) and adjust salt added accordingly|||Use a broth or even water.|||Alcohol burns off when heated.

there is also alcohol free wine. I beleive the brand name is FRE, and its made by sutter home. Ive had it before, and its pretty decent. A not experienced wine drinker probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.|||You could try using ONE CUP of the red wine and then render it down to 1/2 cup.. the alcohol will gass off but you will keep the flavor or the wine..
