What is a good cheap red wine to purchase?

I was wondering what good red wine I could buy that is under $10 Canadian?. You know that kind you can get at a supermarket or at your local Wine merchant. I don't like Merlot, and I want something light and fresh so it doesn't taste too strong. Any ideas?|||How about a good cabernet? Sutter Home or Yellow Tail or Gallo or Mondavi all make good affordable wines.|||Pinot Noir|||That Ecco Damani brand wine looks good. it's about $10 US (so it's probably less Canadian)|||You're doing yourself a vast disservice if you don't at least give Charles Shaw Merlot a shot, IF you can find it in your part of the world. I should think you could. It's extremely inexpensive at $2 bottle (commonly called "Two Buck Chuck") and vintaged here in our own Napa Valley area of California. Highly rated by fans and connoisseurs alike, smooth, not too bulky or heavy. You just might enjoy a Merlot after all. (Red is better for your body anyway and for $2, why not?)

Closest one to Canada is in Washington, though. It costs about $3 in the States, so it -might- be worth the trip depending on where you live in Canada.|||I don't care for Merlot either BUT because it is so full bodied it makes nice spritzers ..this way you can get your light and fresh taste....and make your wine go farther........
